Detectives of the Day

Owen and Ada were the best of friends. They like spending time together - swimming, running around and laughing together.

One afternoon, they decided to go swimming together. Owen wore his red trunks and clear blue goggles while Ada came in an orange suit. She had arm floats as she couldn't really swim yet.

"Ada, look at me!" Owen said while jumping into the pool.

Splashes of water splashed on Ada. She laughed heartily.

Suddenly, Owen saw something floating on the water. He swam nearer to investigate. It was a piece of leaf, floating like a boat.

"I wonder where this leaf came from.." Owen told Ada.

"Let's find out, by matching the shape and colour of the leaf to those on the trees!" suggested Ada.

"Let's go!" they both shouted.

They came to a coconut tree. The leaves didn't quite match the one Owen was holding.

Next, they saw a palm tree. Oh no, not this one either.

Then they saw a very tall tree. Ada looked up and said, "Not this one. The leaves are too long!"

Finally, they came to a tiny tree, about the height of a little boy. Owen brought the leaf closer and..oh my! The leaves were exactly like the one in his hand. They match! The colour and the shape were the same.

Hooray! Owen and Ada solved the mystery of the fallen leaf.

What clever detectives they were!
